FAQ

5. What is a "Medical Procedure" ?

A medical abortion may be performed in two ways in our facility. By injection (Methotrexate & Misoprostol) or by pill (RU-486 Mifeprex). Pregnancy must be less than 7 weeks from cycle (first day of the last period), or 5 weeks from conception, according to the calculations of the ultrasound in this office.

A.  The injection procedure is administered by two shots, one in each hip (or upper bottom), and then a medication is inserted vaginally at home five days after the injection.
This process is much like a natural miscarriage.

B.  The pill procedure is taken by mouth at the office and then two days later the medication is inserted vaginally at home. This medical procedure is a quicker process but tends to have more of the side affects than the injection type. Side affects may be: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Both types will include bleeding like a heavy period with small blood clots.
A two-week check up must be made to assure completion.
Further explanation and details will be discussed privately.
